Michael Kyoti loved his six children.  Although they were often challenging and sometimes difficult to understand, he did have a real affection for them all.  He was really excited because all three of his sons were about to grow up.  He cradled baby Alfie Win, wondering if he would ever cradle a newborn again, and grateful he’d got to experience childrearing so many times.

Screenshot-727

Jono Kyoti was the first to age up.

Screenshot-731

He made a big show of deliberating over what he wanted to become in life… but really he’d known for some time…

Screenshot-733

…he wanted to be a Master Thief.

Screenshot-734

Seth Kyoti was next, and although he pretended to be holding things together, as he blew the candles out, he couldn’t do it.

Screenshot-738

He had a massive freak-out at the thought of staying in this madhouse any longer.  He wanted to be Swimming in Cash, but the family were already doing that.  He didn’t want anything else from them.

Screenshot-785

He was ready to leave  – but there was one person he was afraid of leaving.

Screenshot-164

Before he left, Seth cleaned his teeth three times, washed his hands twice and tucked his big sister Gemma in.  He was so afraid that she would be destroyed by the government and their alien conspiracy.  He really hoped their parents would look out for her.  He was ready to go but he would miss his big sister more than he could say.

Screenshot-754

Gemma was devastated to say goodbye to Seth, but she was also glad that he was going to get himself out, and get himself to safety.  She decided it would be her duty to protect their little brother and teach him all the valuable life skills he needed, such as to check for bugs, both the biological and electronic kind, wherever he went.

Screenshot-751

Alfie Win was such a little charmer that he helped Gemma feel a lot happier.

Screenshot-760

Joanna was also enjoying having another little brother to play with and she loved spending time with Alfie Win.

Screenshot-764

Of course, once or twice, Nicola managed to swipe some candy from him and stay true to form.  However, she didn’t get to do it as often as she’d like, because she had other priorities.

Screenshot-759

She and Jono had made a pact to both rise to the top of the criminal career together – he would become a Master Thief, like their ancestor Joseph, and she would become the Emperor of Evil like their ancestor Cinderella.  Together they would rule the Valley.

Screenshot-730

All this meant that the Kyotis’ legendary cops’n'robbers room was getting a lot of use…

Screenshot-753

Screenshot-784

Of course, policewoman Joanna tried to use the room at different times to her evil criminal siblings.  In the past she’d have been far too good to share her home with her enemy, but since her ‘mid-life crisis’ as the family called it, she’d become much more laid back.

All three began rising up their respective career tracks…

Screenshot-801

…with Joanna adding another police car to the family’s fleet…

Screenshot-773

…and Nicola raiding Cinderella’s old wardrobe.

Screenshot-741

The evil duo were happy to conspire regularly over games of chess.

Screenshot-766

Joanna’s suspicion of her family members had perhaps gone a little far when she tried to interrogagte her bemused uncle Harry in the town library when he was doing a book signing.

Screenshot-783

Gemma was still Gemma.  She was still determined not to work, determined to marry a rich man – maybe her boyfriend Joel, if he could ever stick around longer than five minutes.  She was determined not to let THEM get to her.  Since Seth left, she was on her own fighting the enemy threat.  Her teeth-cleaning and tap checking reached new heights of obsessiveness.

Screenshot-739

On the eve of Alfie Win’s birthday, Michael put the finishing touches to Jono’s portrait.  He had now painted portraits of all five of his older children.  He dearly longed to paint Alfie Win’s as well though he knew that wasn’t likely.

Screenshot-775

Screenshot-810

Alfie Win was a strange child.  Not in the way his brothers and sisters were strange, but he seemed to have huge mood swings – he’d be grumpy one minute…

Screenshot-829

…and the next he’d be easily impressed with what he was doing.  He spent most of his time playing with blocks and occasionally playing chess or doing is homework.  The family never knew whether he’d jump at an idea or resent it, so they mostly left him to his own devices.

Screenshot-820

Rae, meanwhile, was still making steady progress in the medical field, and was also getting to know everyone in town – finally achieving her lifetime wish of Golden Tongue, Golden Fingers.

Screenshot-812

Rae encouraged Gemma to go out and meet some of the neighbours too.  she was secretly concerned about her daughter’s desire to marry a rich man and simply live off him, not least because Gemma had seemed to fall for Joel, the first rich man she met, despite there being a large age gap beteeen them.  Rae would never stop Gemma doing what she wanted, but she did want Gemma to be informed about the choices she was making and not spend her days in a marriage she would one day regret.  Their next door neighbour was bemused by Gemma’s assertion that evil aliens were wearing masks to make them look like real people.  Perhaps he wouldn’t be the next Mr Kyoti.

Screenshot-830

It seemed no time at all until it was Alfie Win’s next birthday.  He was having an excited day – it was time for a party, and cake!  His big brother Seth was home as were his uncles Harry and Wesley and his aunt Emma Mabel, plus lots of the family’s friends and neighbours.  He was going to be a big boy!  However, when he blew the candles out, it wasn’t him that was covered in sparks…

Screenshot-834

His birthday cake and the table went up in flames!  The family had heard stories about this kind of thing but never experienced it themselves.  There was an old family story about Carmel Kyoti setting a barbecue on fire several generations back, but she was renowned for being the batty old lady that lived in the attic so no-one was surprised by that kind of story.  However, they never expected to experience a fire themselves.

Screenshot-842

They called the Fire Brigade and four firefighters came… but the blaze was getting out of control and the firefighters told the family they couldn’t hold the flames back, the fire would have to just blow itself out.

Michael was shocked.  He couldn’t let that happen – he couldn’t let there be a risk of fire engulfing those he loved: his children, his wife, his brothers and sister, his friends, his home, his family’s legacy.

Reaching for a fire extinguisher, brave, protective Michael Kyoti walked into the fire.

  1. …and on that cliffhanger I’ll leave you for a few days until I play on (I’ve played past the fire, of course, but only to the point where the fire is over).

Apologies to fans of the littlest Kyoti – I was so busy getting Rae to talk to townies and max out her skills/scope out potential Gen 10 babydaddies that I didn’t take many photos of Alfie Win. I’ll get some more of him next play session.

PS: Can you spot what Seth is doing in the last shot?

PPS: During the fire, Nicola rolled the wish to ‘see the fiery ghost of Rae’. That girl = pure evil.

  2. DB loves her Mac

Is that Seth lying on his back on the lawn, staring lazily up at the sky?

Aww, poor Alfie Win is grumpy. Is he also inappropriate? I’m basing that on the blue tux…

Anxious for your lovable, nutty family!

    • Haha, no is blue tux is his smart outfit. He just changed into that and finished off his skilling before he had the party. He’s either Easily Impressed or Excitable, I forget which. Oh, and lucky, of course, though his partywould suggest otherwise.

Yep, Seth is passed out like a wimp by the door.

  3. Awesome chapter, as usual. Can’t wait to find out what happens.

You’re getting so close to the end of your legacy now! Well done for making it so far, and it still being really interesting…something that’s not so easy.

    • I only just realised how close… it’ll definitely be finished within the next fortnight and possibly even the next week. Scary!

  4. Ssssooooo….. how many people are you killing off with this? lol

    • Hahahahaahahaaaaa! O_o that was too funny surreal!

Sheesh!! Fire seems to be the theme in many Legacy updates.. I wonder if the game intelligence is linked into all the pc’s it’s loaded onto….

      hmmm… lol.. I sound like Gemma 0.O

      • I’ve seen birthday cake fires in loads of other legacies but this is the first time it’s ever happened to mine because they’re lucky (family trait), I guess. I was not impressed, especially when the firefighters were sending me message pop-ups that were all ‘oooh, no, the fire is too hard for us to deal with, sorry’. Useless creatures. Without revealing anything about the outcome, I quickly paused it to check everyone’s LTH points just in case!

Oh, and Michael doesn’t have the brave trait so I had to send him in to extinguish the flames – which I’d never have done had the firefighters not pussied out of helping. I’ve never seen that pop-up before – but then I have only had three in-game fires; in the Lazarus Dispatches when I wasn’t allowed firefighters as part of the restrictions (which all went soooo well as you will know if you’ve read that story), when Carmel burnt the BBQ and the firefighters put it out back in Gen 3, and there was a kitchen fire in Gen 1/2 as well but the firefighters also put that out. This was not an expected turn of events!

  5. But it is so great when unexpected things happen, and you have to rethink your story line a bit to fit it all in!

I can’t wait to see how you are going to develop this!

  6. Although of course, sims dying is never the best thing:(

    • Who said whether anyone died or not? My lips are firmly sealed on that matter (btw the singed person in the pics is some random townie from across the street).

  7. Four police cars… Wow! And doesn’t it look great!

Love the cliffhanger! This is only the second time I see a birthday cake catch fire. Scary… The pictures of the fire are awesome!

  8. Wow, Nicola is the devil. I can’t believe she rolled that want!…lol.

I don’t want any fiery death, but I’m going to guess that it’s pretty inevitable with the firemen giving up and Michael standing in the middle of it looking very alzheimerish. =( just a guess!

  9. How many cars do you have? Geez….

  10. “Michael standing in the middle of it looking very alzheimerish. =( just a guess!”

    Lol!!

I think we can fish and fish until pirahnas appear in sims3, but Rad’s lips are sealed for now..

    *giggle*

  11. OMG OMG I missed this yesterday. Wowzers!

Are you serious? The fire department refused to help?

Man, that whole firey birthday party thing is just Kyoti with a capital K!

Thanks for the police car pics, btw. Enjoyed that.

    • You’re welcome, it was for you but seems lots of people liked it too!

The Fire Brigade are clearly made of fail. FOUR of them for one pesky cake fire and then they still refuse. I was so unimpressed – I mean it wouldn’t have been so bad if I wanted a sim to date a fireman or anything, but it’s not like any of them were likely to be rich.

      • DB loves her Mac

See, the reason that the fire brigade is full of failure is because Cedrick left. ;-) Without him, they don’t know what to do. Wow, though, I’ve had a biggish fire before in a non-legacy family and the firedudes didn’t give up. Maybe they’re just suggesting that the Kyotis pee it out.

  12. DB – that comment made me laugh lots!

  13. I didn’t realise the fire men would leave part way through a fire. But then saying that I didn’t realise bday cakes would start a fire either. The only fires I’ve had are deliberate ones where I’m trying to kill the blasted sim and there refusing to play ball.
Wow 4′s alot of police cars.
Yes but DB Cedric is he idiot who’s in love with sister i law but too scared to do anything about it :)

  14. “There was an old family story about Carmel Kyoti setting a barbecue on fire several generations back, but she was renowned for being the batty old lady that lived in the attic so no-one was surprised by that kind of story.”

I laughed so hard at this one, people in the library gave me weird looks.
