Michael Kyoti became an old man with little fanfare, because he was far more excited about something else to make a fuss of his birthday…

Yes, he and Rae were expecting their sixth child. Rae wasn’t entirely impressed with this chain of events; she had assumed she was too old to have any more children, but Michael was thrilled, as he’d been wanting another child for a long time.

Seth was the first of their five children to discover a new baby brother or sister was on the way, and he started panicking. Babies smell and mess things up, don’t they? He was extra-fastidious in cleaning and tidying the house that day.

He was also very keen to talk to his friends online to find out signs of how he could tell if the new baby was part of the government’s evil alien agenda.

Jono, Seth’s twin, had other things on his mind and didn’t really care one way or the other about the baby news. He was getting very interested in swimming. He loved the outdoors, and loved the feeling he got from working out, so he made more use of the pool than any other Kyoti had done throughout the family’s history.

He also liked to sit at the outside desk and chat, troll on forums or play chess. Jono was thinking about the future and he had a strong idea what he might like to do when he left school – he just needed to make sure he was ready for it.

Michael and his elder friends were chatting about how being grey didn’t mean life was over. Michael was about to become a dad again; Joel was dating Michael’s daughter Gemma, and Sarah had a new love as well…

…she was seventh in the line of Nicola Kyoti’s conquests. Gemma looked on in bewilderment – how could all these crazy people be falling for the evil alien replicant plot? Didn’t they know the truth about Nicola?

With Sarah romanced and ditched, Nicola was running out of friends that she hadn’t yet destroyed, so she went to the park to play the guitar. She played all through the night, and once the sun came up, she’d found more new friends whose hearts she could relish breaking.

One Jabe Garcia, the brother of Gemma’s boyfriend Joel, was the next to fall into Nicola Kyoti’s trap.

As she walked away from him, he was incredibly angry and became very concerned for his brother. Was it really a good thing for Joel to be involved with a family that could produce someone as callous as Nicola?

As she walked away from Jabe, she didn’t feel the pang of regret most people would feel after letting down a loved one – she simply picked up her phone and invited over her next conquest.

Den Jupitus became the ninth Valley resident to succumb to Nicola’s charms.

Only one more conquest and she would have achieved her dream to tear apart the town by breaking the hearts of its citizens.

Although Nicola was on a mission, she still made sure she found time to tell her mother just how disgusting it was that she and Nicola’s father were having a new baby when they were practically pensioners.

Joanna Kyoti had always been the good one, the calm in the storm, but she had become increasingly isolated, withdrawn and depressed. Since teenhood she’d been comfort eating and hiding in her room. When she’d announced her desire to become a policewoman, no-one in the family had supported her.

She was becoming increasingly angry and frustrated. How come Nicola could just decide she wanted to destroy so many people’s lives? How come Gemma’s sole ambition was to marry a rich man? How come her parents were even thinking of having another baby at their age?

Joanna couldn’t take it any more. She felt like she was cracking up, like everything she once thought she was – good, sweet, clever Joanna – was changing. She didn’t know who she was any more. Eventually she snapped. Maybe all she should want from life was to be Swimming in Cash. So she sold some of the old family paintings that had been in the family for years, and she sold one of the old sports cars to replace it with a Margaret Vaguester. It felt good to be reckless for once, and in a weird way, it was fulfilling. She got a strange glow from the experience. Something in her personality had shifted in a real way.

She kept on pursuing a career in the police, but suddenly she didn’t feel as much of an urgency to get to the top of that career anymore.

Joanna wasn’t the only one fulfilling wishes. Nicola had invited her friend Jon over for a bit of romancing.

…followed by a bit of heartbreaking.

Ten broken hearts ought to be enough to make her mark on the Valley once and for all. Nicola Kyoti was incredibly satisfied with herself.

Whilst the younger adult Kyotis were having these milestones, their parents were having another, as their sixth and final child was on his way.

Alfie Win Kyoti arrived safe and sound, with no idea of the craziness of the family he’d just been born into.
So… things of note in this chapter…
1) Nicola achieved Heartbreaker when she still had over half of her YA bar to go. I’m not sure how long it took but probably about 8-9 sim days. Much easier than I’d anticipated – although it did mean mostly managing her for that time and ignoring the others a bit.
Oh, and the evil snarly face she pulled after dumping Jon and thus achieving her LTW was what she did in the game after dumping him, and it was just too perfect!
2) Yes, Joanna had a mid-life crisis. She didn’t roll anything Jack-of-All-Trades worthy, unfortunately, but I did need Swimming in Cash, which she promptly fulfilled. The triplets are all sticking around, though, as one of them needs to be heir and I would rather let events dictate who that is than force Joanna and/or Nicola out.
3) The sim in the background of the Joanna as cop photo is a sim who I invited over to be Nicola’s last conquest. I got the warning she would die the night before, and after she’d said she was coming over, got the pop up saying she’d died – but she appeared at the front of the house anyway. She didn’t do anything, couldn’t be clicked on or reset. The next day she was gone, with no grave. Odd.
4) Alfie Win continues the naming of the 9th Gen boys after sims from other legacies who have died or are about to die. Win was a lovely fella from the Foliage legacy who died in the week of nice elderly male sim death which also claimed several of the DeCasim old boys and our very own Dino. Alfie is in homage to the lovely Alf Lazarus, founder of my apocalypse legacy, who has maxed out his life bar now. You can follow the adventures of Alf and his family in ‘The Lazarus Dispatches’ which is linked to on the right, along with the Foliages, DeCasims and lots of other great stories. Hint hint.
I’m not really sure why I decided to let them have another baby, as he can only really score me a portrait point, if that, but Michael wanted it and I thought why the heck not, as I didn’t desperately need Gemma to get married any time soon. Sometimes being nice to the heir is a good thing, especially when they’re parenting a bunch of crazies. I may regret this decision when I need room for Gen 10 to be born, but I kind of like the challenge.
Awwww, on behalf of the Foliage family, I am touched! Welcome, little Alfie Win, to the maelstrom end of the Kyoti story!
Please keep him away from Nicola and Jono, lol.
Interesting and effective choice with Joanna! I did not see that coming. Congrats of sorts to Nicola, if that is appropriate.
Or maybe just condolences to her ditchees? Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the family fares.
Feel better!
I really like your legacy, I’ve been catching up on it over the last couple of days (I think I now have square eyes. lol)
It’s really easy to read though, with good story lines, but its not too “plotty”.
Well done on getting so far! I’ve linked to it on my blog (revivingthelegacy.wordpress.com)
Can’t wait for the next update.
Hehe, loved Nicole’s evil look pics.
Wow, I can’t believe you just read the whole of my legacy so quickly! I feel so bad, I started reading yours last night but only the first four chapters so lots to catch up on…
Rad, lol.. your legacy IS AMAZING! Truely this is one of the best that I have read and is in my top5 favorites.
I could not stop myself.. even though I should be studying for 2 exams coming up
lol
I started reading this morning my time at 6am, and ended at about 14.30pm. lol.. nothing like procrastinating!
Ssshhh.. don’t tell my lecturers.
Thanks for starting to look at mine.
Holy. Crap. Nicola didn’t waste any time, did she? I am in awe of her efficiency!
I think it was a good idea for you to try for another baby. I hope he will want to be a Jack of All Trades! Awww, and you named him after my very favorite from DB’s story, too.
If you want to pinch the tips from this post and 8.9 for your own blog when you get a heartbreaker, feel free. I also gave her the attractive and observant LTRs.
I hope he won’t want to be one, because he won’t have time to fulfil it and that’ll just be salt in my wounds. Actually, I remember why I let them have a baby now (other than for Michael’s LTH and the kick of the challenge) – they got pregnant before Joanna had her mid-life crisis and didn’t roll JOAT like she should have done. He was a backup for Swimming in Cash in case none of the others rolled it. As you’ll soon see, that really didn’t need to be a concern. Let’s just say one of my twin boys is in my bad books right now.
My current plan is to do a final townie reseed and then send the girls out spouse-hunting for someone who might be suitable for JOATing and babyfathering. If he’s also ripe for Golddigging, so much the better.
As for Heartbreaker, it’s one of those people are afraid of (as I was) because it seems hard but it actually isn’t, especially with the flirty trait, but it would probably not be too hard without it. As with many LTWs, the guitar is your friend. And remembering to dump the sim as soon as they’ve agreed to be the boyfriend/girlfriend. Harsh, but efficient.
Masses of tips in here! Thank you very much. I think this baby is the cutest ever… or you’ve managed to take the cutest pic ever of a little pod.
I have always liked the way you kepst emotions running through the story. The characters remain – even as you want to reel in these last points – very believeable!
Wonderful, as always, Rad. But you need more Gemma time! lol I don’t know why I like her so much – but there it is.
And thanks for all the tips.
Don’t worry, there’ll be plenty more of Gemma soon – don’t forget she still has her LTW to do and Nicola has just done hers, hence a lot of Nicola time in the last two updates – as much to help other people with Heartbreaker as anything – plus she dominated my play time when she was doing that and now my play time is going to be mostly focussed on the boys and on finding a suitable gen 10 babydaddy / deciding who Gemma will marry.
Ooh, very nice way to use Joanna to fulfill Swimming in Cash. That seems like an appropriate response to her crazy family–to just want to have money for emergencies and fun things to take your mind off it all.
I find it very interesting that the triplets have yet to come across the “heir issue”. Nicola had so many oppurtunities that Alli and Amanda would have KILLED for, and here is their great-great-great granddaughter dumping potential husbands! You would also think that with Nicola’s mean-streak she would crave to be heir…I’m rooting for Joanna, though. She was always my favorite…
I loved all of them, but I had a soft spot for Joanna too. Nicola isn’t one to be concerned with the past or with acknowledging what she has – she is properly nasty!
