4.2 The boy is mine

Joseph Kyoti couldn’t believe that he was the father of two teenage daughters who were so pretty and so clever.  But as SkyBlueGinger and SatelliteJuno (or SkyBee and SJ as the family called them) faced their teenage years, he knew the biggest headache of his life (and theirs) was on the horizon… their lovelives.

He’d heard all the stories of the exploits of his mum Amanda and her twin sister Rhiannon, and of his Great Aunt Lola and her sister Alli.  Kyoti twin girls + the teen and young adult years = trouble.

Everyone told the girls how stunning they were, and how much SkyBee looked like her mum Daniela, whilst SJ was the spitting image of her late Grandmother.

The neurotic SatelliteJuno didn’t take this comparison well.  She missed her grandmother and didn’t want to be reminded of her every time she looked in the mirror – nor did she want to be her grandmother, she was her own person, after all.  A quick makeover was in order…

…as was the obligatory brushing of the teeth three times in a row.

As the girls settled in to their first day at secondary school, their Aunt Kiley went out to buy some groceries, when she went into labour, giving birth to baby Rain (who also inherited her penchant for evil).

As with every new Kyoti arrival, the whole family took on the responsibility of raising baby Rain.  Daniela Kyoti looked at the baby with a sense of sadness.  She’d always wanted a large family, but her two daughters were born not long before the menopause, and she didn’t think she would live long enough to see granchildren.  She was very happy to have a baby niece, but she couldn’t help wishing…

Baby Rain had a whole host of family members at home during the day to help care for her.  Her great Aunt Carmel was around, painting and writing furiously.  Her mum was trying to be an Illustrious Author, so spent time in the house writing and painting.  Her aunt Daniela, having mastered her guitar skill, was always talking to herself in the mirror trying to be more charismatic, and her daddy Lucas was forever having guests over to play chess.  He was fast becoming one of the best players in Sunset Valley.

Achieving lifetime wishes wasn’t on the agenda for the Kyoti heirs-in-waiting, though.  They both had their special birthday wish to attend to – to become more than just friends with Laurence Heywood, their childhood mate.

SkyBee invited him over to Sunnyside Strand straight after school so they could have some time alone.  It wasn’t long before they shared their first kiss and Laurence had agreed to go steady with her.  SkyBee felt as light as air – she couldn’t wait until they were older and could marry and raise children.  He was so perfect…

Later that evening, when SkyBee was at work, SJ called Laurence.  Not knowing anything about his relationship with her sister, she was determined to make him hers.  He was very happy to meet her and suggested a little secluded spot called Sunnyside Strand…

… and in the space of one evening, Laurence became romantically involved with both of the Kyoti twins…
